very valuable yet not overwhelming

olivia shupe gave such helpful information with great encouragement on parenting well, yet without any sense of overload. i prefer not to read very many parenting books because i am one of those parents already overly conscious of doing everything well to parent my children's hearts. so many times, i just feel guilt of any thing i am not doing, do too much of, or do incorrectly. with olivia's book, i was so encouraged and exhorted without the usual uneasiness. i LOVED it. from the training on the intelligences, to the many life stories, to the sense of empowerment to do well as a parent. it was very helpful. i am still quoting it to friends. thanks olivia!

Are you parenting for Character or for Comfort?

I must admit that it is tempting to be lazy and selfish in my parenting. I can help my children determine WHO they are and WHOSE they are, or I can let the world tell them. Olivia's book has inspired me to step up and prepare my 5 children to THRIVE and not just survive. I long to be intentional ALL the time, however, sometimes I need to be encouraged and reminded of how important and influential my role is as a mother. Renaissance Kids has motivated me to re-think what we are doing as a family. I desire to raise children who are leaders. This will not happen by default. Olivia has challenged me to parent with excellence, bathed in relationship, in an atmosphere of grace. I highly recommend not only reading this book along with your husband, but even more so, to grab several other couples to absorb this material together. We must stay connected in community as we spur one another on in this amazing adventure called parenting!

Super Information, Super Format

Perspective!!! Renaissance Kids is NOT the "how to" parenting book I thought it might be although it has plenty of practical advice. I am more than refreshed with Olivia Shupe's offer of perspective; I am stirred to open my home and invite other parents to gather, discuss, and get rejunivnated to parent a world-changing generation. RK presents information and then questions at the end of each chapter that provide the basis for some lively discussion and hopeful insight in order to get back on track with perhaps the highest calling we have: effective parenting of champions and enjoying it!!!
